Community Governance Review

"A Community Governance Review provides an opportunity to put in place strong, clearly defined boundaries, which reflect local identities and facilitate effective and convenient local government."

Pilton West Parish is included in the proposed changes for the North Devon district.

The first round of Public Consultations ended on the 30th September 2025. Pilton West Parish Council along with the strong representation of parishioners managed to get two out of the three original options rejected from the plan. The option of Shearford Close and Trayne Heights has been retained in the plan and has been divided into a further three options:

Option 1:

No change to current boundaries.

Option 2:

Move Shearford Close into the boundary of Barnstaple Town Council.

Option 3:

Move Shearford Close and Trayne Heights into the boundary of Barnstaple Town Council.

A second round of Public Consultations has now started and Pilton West Parish Council urges parishioners to engage in the consultation and have their voices heard. Please click on the link below to participate in the consultation. Responses must be entered by Friday 30th January 2026.
